Bone Grafts
Bone regeneration with safety and precision — the foundation for stable, long-lasting dental restorations.
Bone grafting procedures represent an advanced medical technique aimed at regenerating new bone tissue. These grafts are widely recognized for their safety and effectiveness.
Applications of Bone Grafts
Bone grafts act as scaffolding materials for bone regeneration. They release growth factors that activate the patient’s bone cells to produce new bone and create an optimal environment for its deposition. Grafts can be used alone or combined with membranes for various dental and surgical applications, including:
- Guided bone regeneration to rebuild supporting bone around teeth damaged by periodontitis
- Preservation of bone volume after tooth extraction
- Sinus lift procedures for implant placement in areas with insufficient bone
- Augmentation of bone dimensions in areas of the jaw with deficiencies
Sources of Bone Grafts
Bone grafts can originate from different sources:
- Autografts, harvested from the patient’s own jaw or iliac crest
- Allografts, from human donors, processed and sterilized
- Xenografts, from animals such as bovine or porcine origin, also processed and sterilized
- Synthetic grafts, including bone morphogenetic proteins and growth factors
All grafts are commercially available, rigorously tested for safety, and typically supplied in granular form. Once hydrated, these granules acquire a gel-like consistency, making them easy to handle during procedures.
